Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery: the OCPM Will Now Hear the Comments of the Public
Montréal, November 28, 2003 – Starting Monday, December 1, the Office de consultation publique de Montréal (OCPM) will hear individual citizens and organizations who wish to express their opinions and views on the Master Development Plan of the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery. The master development plan targets the development and enhancement of the cemetery. It is divided into three sections: spatial organization, heritage, and the funeral function.
The main interventions proposed between now and 2026 are as follows:
- funeral heritage rehabilitation program;
- reforestation program;
- construction of three mausoleums;
- enhancement of the plain;
- signage plan;
- creation of an interpretation centre at the historic house to the left of the entrance from Decelles;
- development, in collaboration with the Ville de Montréal, of a bicycle path along Côte-des-Neiges, a public path running through the cemetery, and a belt way.
More than 20 individuals and organizations are already registered for this part of the consultation which will begin on Monday, December 1, at 7 p.m. at Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Church, 5320 Côte-des- Neiges Road, in the Church Hall. The sessions will continue on the following nights, if necessary.
