Reminder of Public Consultations: Benny Farm and Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery

Montréal, November 6, 2003 – The Office de consultation publique de Montréal (OCPM) wishes to remind the citizens of Montréal that two major public consultations will start on November 10, in the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough.

BENNY FARM
The first consultation concerns the redevelopment of the Benny Farm site, located on each side of Cavendish Boulevard between Sherbrooke Street and Monkland Avenue. Filed by the Société immobilière du Canada (S.I.C.), the project includes the demolition of several components of the existing residential complex, the construction and renovation of more than 500 dwelling units, the development of community facilities such as a CLSC and a sports and community centre, including a day care centre along Monkland Avenue, facing Benny Park.

All persons and organizations concerned are invited by the OCPM to attend the first part of the meeting on Monday, November 10, 2003, at 7 p.m., at the Oscar Peterson Concert Hall, 7141 Sherbrooke Street West.

NOTRE-DAME-DES-NEIGES CEMETERY
The second consultation concerns the Master Development Plan of the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery. The master development plan targets the development and enhancement of the cemetery. It is divided into three sections: spatial organization, heritage, and the funeral function. Since the Cemetery is located in the natural and historical borough of Mont Royal, the public consultation meetings will be held jointly by the OCPM and the Conseil du Patrimoine de Montréal. This consultation will take place at Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Church, 5320 Côte-des-Neiges Road, in the Church Hall, on November 10, at 7 p.m.
